How do I get a copy of my child's credit reports?

Generally, minors under the age of 18 do not have credit reports. If your child has a credit report, it may be a sign that their personal information has been used for fraud or identity theft purposes.

To check to see if your child has a credit report, please send a letter with your request to the addresses shown below with copies of the following:

  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate
  • A copy of the child’s Social Security card or a document from the Social Security Administration showing the child’s Social Security number
  • A copy of your driver’s license or government-issued identification, with current address
  • If you are not the child’s parent, a copy of a document giving you legal authority to act on the child’s behalf, such as a foster care certification or proof of legal guardianship

To ensure your request is processed without delay, please enlarge photocopies of any items with small print, such as a driver’s license. If your photocopies are not legible or contain highlighting, we may request that you resubmit them.
