What is Associate Information?
The Financial associates section is about people you have financial links with. From time to time, you might decide to combine your finances with another person's and apply for credit together - for example when buying a house. This creates a financial association between you. If you include your partner's name on a credit application this also creates an association. You'll then see a financial link on your report, which stays even after the credit agreement is closed.

How long does Associate information stay on my credit file?
It can stay indefinitely, but you can remove a person's name when you no longer have the credit agreement.
How does Associate information affect my credit rating?
If you have a financial associate, lenders might look at both your data when deciding whether to offer you credit. If you're refused credit, you should contact the lender to find out why.
Will my partner's name and information appear on my report?
You'll each have separate credit reports as credit agencies don't issue joint reports. Any accounts that are in both names, or that you've co-signed for, will show on both reports.
Someone else is on my credit report?
If there's information on your credit report about a person you have no financial link with, let us know so we can look into this. Click on the Ask a question tab and then Someone else is on my file. Choose the appropriate section from the drop-down category boxes and we'll investigate.
