How it Works

The Equifax Credit Behaviour Segmentation (ECBS) credit-clustering tool is the first of its kind. With ECBS, you can select from 16 credit-based segments such as ability to pay, propensity to spend a lot or a little, or the likelihood that the consumer will pay on time.

ECBS clusters were developed from an initial set of more than 300 credit variables drawn from the files of all Canadian consumers with a credit history. Statistical analysis isolated 25 predictive credit variables that we refresh twice each year. Credit criteria that form the clusters include credit performance, utilization of personal lines of credit, national credit cards, bank loans and other trades, as well as bankruptcy and delinquency.
